Manchester United are coming against another Spanish opponent and masters of the Europa League competition.

Like Barcelona, Sevilla FC has been one of the Spanish clubs Man United have struggled to dominate in the games they have played so far.

The last the time two teams met was in August 2020 – Europa League semi-finals in which the Sevilla defeat the Red Devils.

Sevilla defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the Europa League semifinals, and Manchester United were left to regret a number of missed opportunities.

Bruno Fernandes (9) scored from the penalty spot after Diego Carlos fouled Marcus Rashford to give them the perfect start. However, during a fun first half, former Liverpool winger Suso (27) tied the score with a tap-in.

Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford all had chances to give United the lead again after the break, but they all missed. In the 78th minute, Luuk de Jong scored after some shoddy defending by Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Sevilla who sits 13th on the Spanish La Liga – haven’t sacked two coaches already shared a snippet of Suso’s goal on Twitter and tagged Manchester United with the caption, “Last time out.”

The throwback video has stirred a lot of reactions from Man United supporters online who have taken the comment section to warn Sevilla that tonight at Old Trafford will be a hell fire for them.

Some fans believed because the game was played without fans it contributed to the lost. Others also believe this Erik ten Hag is in charge and the Red Devils are a different team now compared to their last meeting when ‘flop’ Maguire and Lindalof were partnering at the back.

Meanwhile, speaking ahead of the game tonight, Manchester United manager, ten Hag said, “They have the record of Europa League winners and if you want to beat them, you have to give your best performance and you have to do it in two legs.”

David de Gea had this to say about facing Sevilla: “I saw them a bit. It’s another Spanish team coming to Old Trafford. I think they are struggling a bit in La Liga this season but we know how they play in the Europa League.”
Relatively, Man United are on a run of 24 matches unbeaten at Old Trafford in all competition which makes the tie interesting to watch tonight.
