Relatively, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and John Mahama have been requested to be detained by the police for their statements that party members are ready to give their lives to win the 2024 elections, according to Justin Frimpong Kodua, the general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He declared that the two NDC gentlemen’s remarks needed to be considered treasonous.
His responses follow the NDC’s demand that Bryan Acheampong, a lawmaker from Abetifi and minister of foods and agriculture, be detained without delay and charged with treason for remarks he made.
He said “The NPP will never hand over power to the NDC.”
On Saturday, April 8, 2023, Acheampong addressed party supporters in Mpraeso and vowed that the current administration would employ all necessary measures to maintain power in 2024.
In response to the remarks, the NDC attacked the MP in a statement, accusing him of inciting irrationality to skew the results of the upcoming elections.
