Report reaching InsightNewsgh.com is that Emmanuel Asiedu-Mante, a former Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana has passed on.
At aged 81, Mr Asiedu-Mante finally gave up the ghost on Monday night.
After battling ill health, he passed away at the Bank Hospital in Accra, his son Daniel Asiedu-Mante told Graphic Online on Wednesday.
The former Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana was born in June 1942, and from May 29, 2001, to May 31, 2006, he served as the central bank’s deputy governor.
The family was devastated, according to junior Asiedu-Mante.
“It is sad but we will take it a day at a time,” he said.

“It also brings us closer to this thing because we saw it coming,” he said, adding that his father had been unwell for some time.
The son stated that a family gathering was scheduled for this coming weekend to decide on the burial and funeral services.
Before his retirement as Deputy Governor in 2006, the late Asiedu-Mante spent 38 years working for BoG.
He was also a former chairman of the board of Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited and played a key role in bringing the idea of rural banking to the nation.
He served as the chair of the Transitions Apex Steering Committee, which was established by the central bank to develop guidelines for a regulatory framework for rural and community banks (RCBs).
The committee’s efforts resulted in the creation of the ARB Apex Bank, a miniature central bank for the RCBs, and the nationwide operationalization of RCBs.
Rural Banking in Ghana, written by Mr. Asiedu-Mante, was published in 2011.
At the fourth Rural Banking Excellence Awards in Koforidua in December of last year, the Association of Rural Banks recognized him for his outstanding contributions to the success of their sector.
Due to his extensive expertise and knowledge in the field, he was also frequently referred to as the encyclopedia of rural banking.
In addition, Mr. Asiedu-Mante was a consistent and respected voice on matters of national importance, particularly those involving the banking and economy.
