Sammy Awuku, director general of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), is confident in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) chances of winning the 2024 elections.

He stated that even though he anticipates a difficult battle with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), he anticipates the ruling party to prevail.

The former National Organiser of the NPP said he expects a fight for several parliamentary seats in the 2024 elections while speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, April 4.

However, he added that the NPP will defeat the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) using a variety of strategies.

“I think that the NPP must focus on regaining our lost seats because there will be a battle for Parliament. But I think we [NPP] will beat the NDC through strategy.”

Mr. Sammy Awuku also made a suggestion that he might run for the NPP’s nomination for the Akropong parliamentary seat.

He claims that several local chiefs and opinion leaders are persuading him to run for the Akropong seat.

In related news, the NPP has revealed the dates for its presidential and parliamentary candidate elections.

This follows meetings between the National Council and the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) on Monday, April 3, 2023, regarding the dates of the presidential and parliamentary primaries.

The opening and closing dates for the presidential primary in 2023 are Friday, May 26 and Saturday, June 24.

Nominations would become available for the parliamentary primaries on December 20, 2023, and would end on January 4, 2024.

On February 24, 2024, the parliamentary primaries would take place.

The cost of nomination forms and filing fees for the parliamentary primaries would be GHC 3,000 and GHC 35,000, respectively.

The National Council further prohibited party executives at the national, regional, and constituency levels as well as MMDCEs from running for office in districts where the party currently has incumbents.
