Following his impressive performance against Angola on Thursday night, Thomas Partey was praised by Ghanaians.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the Black Stars defeated the Black Antelopes 1-0 in a qualifier for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

As Chris Hughton began his tenure as Ghana’s coach, a late goal by substitute Antoine Semenyo separated the two teams.

One of the star performers in a challenging game was Partey, who led the squad in Andre Ayew’s absence.

The Arsenal midfielder has in the past been accused of not doing enough for his country and has frequently come under fire for his inconsistent performances while wearing a Ghana jersey.

He was, however, at his best against Angola, dishing out passes to his team members who were on the attack and assisting the Black Stars in controlling the middle of the field.

Following the game, some Ghanaians on social media noticed Partey’s performance and gave him praise.

Below are some of the top tweets:

This ranks as one of Thomas Partey’s best games for the Black Stars.

His best was when we went to Congo in 2017 where he scored a hat-trick.

    Super today. pic.twitter.com/QKkAB3BJ3B

My Captain! Partey was class! Arteta has unlocked something in him! This is the best game I’ve seen Partey play for the Black Stars in a while !! 🇬🇭🔥 pic.twitter.com/lzf98h3Cp1

What Partey did today in this BS team isn't different from what he does at Arsenal. He was good today.

    — SITSO (@OfficialSitso) March 23, 2023

Thomas Partey was very good today.
His passing allowed the Black Stars to get in behind Angola on a day we struggled to find space.
    Typically composed, too.
In a better team performance, his output gets magnified if not better appreciated.

Chris hughton shouldn’t play Dede ayew in the same match as this guy.
