The investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas expressed disappointment with the court’s decision in the libel case against Kennedy Agyapong, a member of parliament from Assin Central.
His comments follow the maverick MP’s joyous celebration of his victory over Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his private investigation company Tiger Eye PI.
Kennedy Agyapong expressed his happiness to Kwasi Nyantakyi, the former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The 25 million defamation lawsuit Anas filed against the lawmaker/businessman in 2018 was dismissed by the Accra High Court on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
In the lawsuit, he alleged that Agyapong defamed him in the documentary “Who watches the watchman” that he broadcast on various platforms. Agyapong was ordered to clear his name after Anas asked the court to punish him with damages.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas failed to demonstrate that Ken Agyapong defamed him by airing the documentary, according to the High Court, presided over by Justice Eric Baah.
The documentary in question, in the opinion of the court, primarily exposed dubious transactions in which Anas and his associates were involved.
In a lengthy decision, the court found that Agyapong’s evidence was sufficient to establish that Anas had solicited funds from people connected to the evidence he had gathered during his investigations using the findings of his work.
Evidence, it continued, also demonstrated that those who could afford the payments demanded by Anas and his associates were exempted from appearing in the videos that were broadcast to the general public.
The court found that Anas was justified in referring to him as “a blackmailer, corrupt, an extortionist, and evil,” rather than engaging in investigative journalism.
However Tiger Eye PI responding to the court decision said: “We find the court decision an unfortunate travesty of justice and very inimical to the administration of justice and fairness. If for nothing at all made an allegation of murder against Anas.”
Tiger Eye PI and our CEO Anas Aremeyaw vowed to continue fighting corruption in Ghanaian society in a statement.
