A cash donation of GH1,850 from some young ladies from Legon, Knustford, and UPSA was given to Mr. John Dumelo to support his campaign in the upcoming parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
Prior to the 2024 general election, John Dumelo would be running for parliamentary representative for the NDC in Ayawaso West Wuogon for the second time.
Mr. Dumelo lost in his first attempt, which was also the first of his opponent, Mrs. Alhassan’s late husband’s replacement in the race. He received 37,478 votes, or 48.3% of the vote, to her 39,851 votes, or 51.4%.

John Dumelo was defeated, but the results appeared to favor him because the NDC saw an increase of 8.7% in his vote while the NPP saw a loss of 5.9%.
Since Rebecca Akweley Adotey’s victory in 1996, Mr. Dumelo claims the upcoming election is his chance to secure the seat for the NDC for the second time in history.
John Dumelo expressed his gratitude to his friends for the thoughtful gesture on his Twitter page.
“Was humbled to receive the leader of 23 ladies who contributed a total of 1,850gh towards my campaign. The ladies( who are friends) are students from Legon, Knustford and UPSA. Im truly grateful. Together let’s make Awayaso West great again! #2ndcoming #JD2024” he wrote.

In the meantime, rivalry has been brewing between Fred Nuamah and John Dumelo, the two candidates vying for the position of Ayawaso West Wuogon, who are accusing one another of betrayal ahead of the upcoming NDC primaries.
