Kennedy Agyapong, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, asserts that the attack on his businesses is related to his decision to run for president.
In his attempt to lead the NPP in the NPP elections of 2024, he alleges that state institutions are intimidating and frustrating him.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Sompa FM, Kenndey Agyapong pledged to use all of his influence to see that the right things are carried out.
“Let me state it clearly, they cannot use the system to intimidate me. It won’t work. It is so sad for me to make this statement. I operated businesses during all the regimes in the Fourth Republic, but I never went through any of this harassment and intimidation unlike under this Akufo-Addo government that I have been MP for six consecutive terms.”
In 2022, Mr. Agyapong revealed his desire to run for president on the NPP’s slate, claiming he would be the best choice for the position in the subsequent general elections.

He declared that he would draw on his philanthropy, honesty, love of humanity, and—most importantly—his desire to see the nation develop.
Any attempt by the NPP to run Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president, or Alan Kyerematen, the former trade and industry minister, would be disastrous, according to Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
He argued that if the NPP wants to stay in power and end the curse of the eight-year election cycle, it needs someone like him.
