The National Democratic Congress (NDC) chapter in the Volta Region is requesting that President Nana Akufo-Addo issue an unequivocal apology to locals.

According to them, the apology is for what they called the humiliation that he [Akufo-Addo] inflicted on the decent citizens of the area during the Ghana card registration.

“Apologise for treating the people of the Volta Region as second-class citizens in the registration for the ECOWAS card (Ghana Card),” the party demanded.

Along with other things, the President was urged in a statement signed by the NDC Regional Secretary James Gunu to keep his word and finish all unfinished projects.

The party argued that citizens must be able to relate to the 66th Independence Day celebration‘s theme, “Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose,” which was held in the Volta Region.

“Immediately release the 126 million owed the 18 municipal and district assemblies in the region. Construct the one Warehouse per constituency as promised. One district, one factory project. Complete all the abandoned projects: Ave-Dakpa to Akatsi and Akatsi to Avenofeme roads.

“Ho to Torkor and Sokode to Kpeve roads captured under the so-called emergency roads in the government declared 2020 year roads,” the NDC demanded.

Umaro Sissoco Embalo, the President of Guinea Bissau and Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States, attended the event on March 6 as a special guest.
