Due to the local conflict, some students who have been assigned to senior high schools within the Bawku Municipality have declined the admission.
Many people have died and been injured as a result of the protracted chieftaincy dispute in Bawku.
Ten or so deaths associated with recent disturbances have been reported.

Since being posted there, students have declined the admissions that were offered to them.
The Free Senior High School Program’s Upper East Regional Coordinator, Kofi Ayamga Anamboyine, stated in an interview with Citi News that the students who would accept admission would go through counseling.
Some Islamic scholars and other Ghanaians have urged the natives to lay down their weapons in order to promote peace.
