National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for parliament John Dumelo has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to postpone this year’s Independence Day festivities.
He claimed that the March 6 celebrations, which take place in all of the regional capitals, cannot currently be supported by the Ghanaian economy.
The candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency wrote in a social media post: “Greetings @NAkufoAddo, respectfully we are in hard times, can you please cancel all state, regional and district Independence Day celebrations? You can do your usual ‘fellow Ghanaians’ broadcast on tv. This will save us millions of cedis. Thanks so much”.
