Joshua Clottey, a boxer from Ghana, claims to have excelled in school and regularly placed first or second in his class.
He claimed it was his individual choice to stop attending school in order to concentrate on boxing, but he still attained some level of education.
The former IBF welterweight champion was quick to add, though, that he doesn’t regret quitting school to pursue a different career.
“I was a brilliant student in school. I used to be among the first and second in my class. I was able to finish JHS and I understand when people speak English and I can respond,” Clottey told Joy News’ Prime Take.

“Even if you finish your Master’s you still have to learn in life, so we have life knowledge and education knowledge and I have that.
“I wanted to make it because I dropped out of school so me being a boxer I have to make sure that I become a world champion.
“Dropping out of school to become a world champion is more or less like having a Master’s in education. So I never feel ashamed of dropping out of school.”
The boxer reached the pinnacle of his career in 2010, when he faced seven-division world champion Pacquiao, a fight he ultimately lost by unanimous decision.
Many conspiracies emerged in the wake of the fight, with some even contending the 45-year-old ruined the fight.
The negotiations for the fight against the Filipino boxer went horribly wrong, according to Clottey.
He claimed that he trusted his manager to get him the best deal possible, but that he ultimately fell victim to fraud.
With 47 fights under his belt, Clottey has a record of five losses, 41 wins, and 24 knockouts.
