The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, will appear before the House of Representatives in order to respond to inquiries regarding a new C.I.
Along with Dr. Ken Attafuah, the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), the EC boss will testify before the legislature.
The Ghana Card is being used as the main form of voter registration for the upcoming general elections by the EC’s CI.
Tuesday will see the appearance before lawmakers of EC Chairperson Jean Mensa, according to the majority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

“The EC officials had established contact with the Chairperson, who had agreed to come down for us to have the committee of the whole meeting, but she delayed because the Minority MPs were picking up their parliamentary forms. So on Tuesday, she will appear, and we will continue with the committee of the whole meeting.”
The Ghana Card would be the only document used to register voters for elections, according to reports, but Parliament has refuted these claims.
According to a statement from the Public Affairs Directorate of Parliament, the House only held pre-presentation discussions on the CI to gather input from pertinent sources for its drafting.
The Minority in Parliament objected to the briefing by EC officials last Thursday because Madam Mensa wasn’t present in the House.
