Dwayne Wade has won an ensuing battle with his ex-wife over their transgender daughter Zaya who has been granted a legal name and gender change by a Los Angeles court
Dwayne Wade who is a former professional NBA player has for some time been involved in a legal battle with his ex-wife over the gender change of their 16-year-old daughter who emerged as a transgender in 2019 has legally changed his/her name to Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade.
According to Dwayne Wade’s ex-wife Funches-Wade, the former was pressuring their child for a name-change for his own financial benefit and not because it is what the ward wanted and would want ‘her’ to wait until she was at least 18 before she makes a change to her name stating ‘I have concerns that (Dwyane) may be pressuring our child to move forward with the name and gender change in order to capitalize on the financial opportunities that he has received from companies’ and further revealing a conversation that ensued between the two claiming Dwayne told her ‘that a lot of money had been already made and that additional money will be made in relation to our child’s name and gender issue.’
Following the declaration by the Los Angeles court, Dwayne Wade’s lawyer would state his client signed the petition to have a name change because it is what ‘Zaya’ wanted “Siohvaughn’s allegations are libellous at their core, and are, at best, nonsensical. In August, Wade filed a petition to allow Zaya to legally change her gender, and name from Zion Malachi Airamis Wade to Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade.
