Former finance minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has selected the necessary paperwork to formally run for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership.
Dr. Duffuor has chosen to run in this election against former President John Mahama, joining a growing list of notable individuals who have done so.
Gloria Huze, the NDC’s Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser, collected the nomination papers for the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
Kakra Essamuah, the chairman of the election committee, pleaded with Dr. Duffuor to use his knowledge of finance to revive Ghana’s faltering economy.
“I together with all Ghanaians have been overpowered by the stench of corruption on Akufo-Addo. We know it’s an NDC man who can take us out of this, provided he gets the vote of the delegates,” he said.

According to Madam Huze, the NDC will need a brave candidate like Dr. Duffour to lead it in the 2024 presidential elections if it is to protect the populace, particularly women, from the current administration.
She claims that because he cares about the welfare of the people, the politician will be the opposition party’s best choice for the 2024 election.
This will be his second attempt to serve as the NDC’s flagbearer.
NDC began accepting nominations for its presidential and parliamentary elections on February 22, 2023.
The two-day event would serve as a prelude to the procedures for the party’s internal elections, which will elect the NDC’s presidential and parliamentary candidates on May 13, 2023, to run as the party’s candidates in the general election of 2024.
