Former President John Mahama has formally conveyed interest in leading the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the general elections in 2024.
He made the disclosure during a Minority Group meeting at his State office on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

All NDC MPs in Parliament unanimously endorsed John Mahama to lead the party to victory in 2024.
Attending the meeting were former chief of staff Julius Debrah, former NDC campaign director for the 2020 general election, Professor Joshua Alabi, and former information minister, Kofi Totobi Quakyi.
Mr Mahama is expected to make a public statement to the people of Ghana in the coming days.
Before that, about four associations were – Motorcyclists Association, Authentic Motorists Association, Concerned Motorists Association and Abossey Okai Parts Dealers Association assured the Congress National Democracy (NDC) and urges Mahama to firmly support the 2024 elections.
Unions have said that John Mahama, as president, would be the best leader to tackle the country’s current economic challenges.
Setsofia Quashie, the public relations officer for the Motorcyclists’ Association who presented the petition, said Ghanaians wanted a change in government that would transform the economy. economic.
Currently, former Finance Minister and Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, and former Kumasi City CEO Kojo Bonsu have announced their intention to challenge the NDC flag bearer as the party opens nominations for presidential primaries.

A recent report by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) also predicts a victory for the NDC before the 2024 general election.
