Abraham Ohene Djan, the revered Ghanaian movie maker and producer has disclosed not everyone in the music industry is a true musician.

In an interview on Joy’s Prime morning with host KMJ alongside dynamic music duo, KECHE, here’s what Abraham Ohene Djan had to say “Because of the way technology has interfered with the creative industry, these days somebody can buy a laptop, a camera, and have a production company in their bedroom. The same thing with the studio, and they say they’re musicians. So, we have some people who are involved in the music industry who are not musicians”

According to the movie maker, some get lucky and eventually make name for themselves but are unable to repeat their success because music is not their forte but thanks to technology, most individuals could now create songs in the comfort of their homes of which some have become commercially successful songs and this has led to some thinking they are musicians when in reality, they aren’t “They may get lucky and come up with something that will resonate with people one time, and that’s it; they can’t repeat it”

The celebrated producer would then conclude by adding that it is a true mark of a musician to be able to churn out hit songs regardless of the generation and also stressed how different the market has become as it isn’t all about writing just hit songs “The marketing space is very different now. It’s not really about hit songs per se, though songs will go viral if they resonate with people. We’re in a very different marketing space at the moment, and it’s not necessarily only about writing a hit song”
