    Upper East MPs have criticized the enskinment of rival Bawku Naba.

    They described the action as null and void amid calls for the government to correct its mistakes to prevent further deterioration of the region.

    At a parliamentary press conference on Wednesday, MPs described the scaling as an affront to Ghanaian culture.

    Zebilla MP Cletus Avoka, who spoke on behalf of the group, lamented the Bawku dispute that has raged for years.

    The Mamprusi faction of the protracted Bawku conflict was on Wednesday at the palace of the Mamprugu warlord (Nayiri), Naa Bohugu Mahama Abdulai II to establish a new Bawku Naba despite Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II’s recognition by Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II. government and the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs as the rightful ruler of the area.

    But MPs say the alleged wrap will not be recognized.

    The government, through the Ministry of Information, said the move was illegal and a violation of national security.

    MPs called on the government to do more than just condemn and take decisive action. The group said they were surprised that the security agencies had not picked up any intelligence to prevent what they called illegal cover-ups that could lead to chaos.
