Karim Adeyemi, Borussia Dortmund wonderkid attributed his dizzying speed to eating African dishes like fufu after scoring the winning goal against Chelsea in last night Champions League clash.
The 21-year-old’s goal made all the difference as the German side scored a tight 1-0 win over Chelsea in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie on Wednesday night.

Adeyemi caught the ball in his area after a corner was cleared and ran almost the entire length of the field to score.

The former RB Salzburg striker also edged past Enzo Fernandez before edging past goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to put the ball into an empty net.
Since then, he has been widely praised for his speed and composure when it comes to scoring and the youngster attributes his speed to eating African dishes. Speaking to the media after the match, Adeyemi, who was born in Germany but has Nigerian roots, said fufou helped him get faster.

“I eat a lot of African foods but I have good genetics from my dad. [The food] is called Fufu from Nigeria,” he said when asked about which food makes him as fast.

Adeyemi stated: “The only thing I was thinking [against Enzo Fernandez] was that I just need to get the ball past him. You just try to win your duels, the goalkeeper came out and there may have been a bit of luck, but I’m delighted with the goal.
“It’s a case of new year, new luck. For me, it’s that simple. As a team, we talked a lot during the break and it brought us closer together.
“The win tonight was crucial and it was unbelievable to play in front of these fans. We wanted to give Chelsea a tough game from start to finish and we’ve won.”
Adeyemi has now brought his tally for the season to five goals and two assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.
