Eighteen (18) people have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for causing disturbances on the University of Ghana campus.
The 18 suspects were accompanied by about 200 others believed to be former members of the university’s Commonwealth Hall.

The 18 suspects are all in police custody and will be brought before the court to face justice.
“We would like to give the assurance that all other persons involved in the disturbances will be arrested and brought to face justice,” the Police said in a statement.
Students, who had gathered at the entrance to the boarding hall, chanting and reciting songs aloud, were barred from entering the main campus of the hall.
The situation arose after university management called the police for help after they received reports that messages had been shared on social media asking all current students in the class to close. pack and present at the entrance as ordered by the court.
