The National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP of North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa revealed that he was unfazed by Pastor Victor Kusi Boateng’s ban against him.

He stated that the threats by some institutions of State and justice to silence him in his parliamentary work would have no effect.

In a statement on social media, the NDC lawmaker said he was threatened with jail because of the recent press conference about the Secretary of the National Church Council, Pastor Victor Kusi Boateng.

“Let the cowardly forces of tyranny be told that I am not one to be frightened with imprisonment.

“I am ever ready to be a political prisoner of conscience than to be forced and compromised to a behind the scene deal with the corrosive enemies of the Republic,” he tweeted.

The Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the National Church of Ghana, Pastor Victor Kusi Boateng, has filed a request for the court to jail Mr Ablakwa for his conduct.

The congressman has issued a summons to be served on him by a bailiff on Friday, February 3.

He argued that he was on his way to Parliament when the bailiff approached him in the front yard of Accra-based Metro TV to have a summons from Pastor Kusi Boateng served.

The order is intended to prevent lawmakers from commenting further on the clerical dual identity case, as was the case before the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).

The final petition is to draw the court’s attention to a possible contempt case against the legislator.
