    Education is Key – Idris Elba

    Idris Elba, the global award-winning movie star has stated that aside from his intentions of building a filming studio in Ghana, he would also want to see the education of creative arts in the country being more functional.

    Earlier this month, the British actor dominated the headlines for all the right reasons as he stated his intentions to build a studio for film in the country and now in a latest interview with the Kumasi-based radio station Opimso) Fm has reiterated the importance of education if one wants to have a place in the creative industry.

    According to Idris Elba; “Part of the plan that we have, which is building a studio is policy. The policy comes from the government and it makes sure people can find a way to industrialize filmmaking. Education is key. Young people get educated. It is important that if you want to be an actor, a storyteller if you want to be a cameraman, you have to go to school. School is a good entry point. So what we are hoping to do apart from our film initiative is to boost the education process”

    Idris Elba would also reveal they are pushing the Government of Ghana to push policies that will help in the education of creative “We are encouraging the government of Ghana to really push education in creative arts” and also revealed groundworks are underway for the construction of the film studio.

    The actor has also been spotted in parts of Kumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana shooting scenes for his new movie and this would be the actor’s second movie in Ghana after ‘Beast of no Nation’ which would lead to the discovery of such talents as Abraham Attah who now lives in America and features in Hollywood.
