Jay Foley, the radio and television personality has lamented how a lack of patience and quick haste for success from certain talented artists has led to their doom
According to Jay Foley, he left his former job of managing artists due to ego and a lack of foresight from artists he used to manage back then.
In a one-on-one conversation with George Quaye on Joy Fm’s A-Z showbiz program, Jay Foley had this to say “Some artists have disappointed me, as a result of ego, vision…trust. A lot of these talents are shortsighted and want things overnight, in 24 hours, which doesn’t work”
He would further add that failure on the part of the manager to meet the demands of these music talents largely lead to the emanation of problems between artists and their managers as well as feeling overly important because of some tweets here and there “Artists, after 10, 20 retweets on their Twitter…they feel they’re on top of the world, some of them, feel like they’re there. And then the ego plays in”, Jay mentioned.
Jay Foley also revealed that some artists eventually get complacent due to the structure of payments that are due them from their body of work as artists “Of course, the money comes in the artiste’s name, so if he checks his balance and he’s got a $100,000 in there and he feels you have just 15% of that, he feels like ‘I have the money so I call the shots’, and it’s always the case”.
Jay Foley is a well-known and respected name within the confines of the entertainment industry in the country and has been actively involved in Ghanaian music since his days at 4syte Tv.
