The artist manager, Emmanuel Barnes, commonly known as Mr Logic, indicates that Highlife has the potential to help put Ghanaian music on the same global map as Nigerians.

Mr Logic cited that Highlife is Ghana’s indigenous music while speaking on UTV’s Showbiz entertainment show.

Logic notes that Nigerians have been smart enough to identify that Afrobeat is their genre of music and they are doing a great job at it even though they have joined Highlife, young people there have started promoting Afrobeat .

“The Nigerians were smart enough to identify that Afrobeat has been their music even though they stole part of it from Highlife and the young ones started pushing Afrobeat,” he argued.

He refutes the claim that Hiplife is the indigenous music of Ghana saying that Hiplife originated from Highlife.

He added that if we are going to put Ghana on the same map as Nigeria, our language has to be Highlife. Otherwise, we’re not going anywhere. He is very clear in everything he says.

“If we want to place Ghana on the map like Nigerians, please the language should be Highlife, if not we’ll not get anywhere”, he added.

Over the years, Ghana and Nigeria have been at odds over who does better. Unlike Ghana, Nigeria has recently made great strides in the music industry.
