Although news of his rescue was first covered by Ghanaian journalist Saddick Adams on Monday night, another sports journalist said otherwise.

A Turkish journalist covering Christian Atus’ situation also said there were no updates on his safety, recovery or health.

This claim was corroborated by Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo, who wrote: This is not the update we were expecting, but Christian Atsu’s agent says he has still not been able to get in touch with the player since he was “pulled from the wreckage” and no one, including club   seems to know where he is.

Earlier on, in an interview with Christian Atsu’s twin sister identified as Atsupie, she confirmed that her brother was found alive.

According to Atsupie, she was reliably informed that her twin brother was unharmed.

“I received a call from his agent that he has been found and taken to the hospital. We thank God but I want to hear his voice to confirm the reports. I am preparing to leave for Turkey and I want to see the extent of the injuries he has sustained. These past few hours has not been easy and it has been tears and prayers to God”, she revealed.

Atsupie also revealed that Atsu’s wife and children are safe and she has kept in touch with them since the incident.

In short, Christian Atsu was never found after it was reported that he had been rescued from the rubble following the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. May he be found safe and sound.
