Kuami Eugene, Ghanaian award-winning Hiplife artiste has disclosed what desperation he had to win the 2019 VGMA award.
Kuami Eugene has in an interview with media mogul, Doreen Avio disclosed he wanted to badly win the ‘Best New Artist of the year’ at the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Here’s what he had to say “It was my first time on the VGMA platform so I mean, the whole VGMA effect with Kuami Eugene being on that platform for the first time was in my brains and I had a hard time letting it go. It was a tight position and it wouldn’t have been bad if it went to Kidi, King Promise and my other brothers”
Kuami Eugene would also reveal he wanted to one day tell his children he beat such heavyweights as King Promise, Kidi and Kwabena Kwabena to the award “I really needed that award because I wanted to be remembered that in our year, I mean I want to tell my boys I beat Kidi and King Promise. It was a tight position and two days before the award, I had a dream that I didn’t win the award. I woke up and didn’t feel good at all, I had to pray against all the boys. I told my mom the boys are trying to take the award from me.”
Kuami Eugene was nominated alongside other talents such as B4Bonah, Kwesi Arthur, King Promise, Kurl Songs and fellow record label signee KiDi at the 20th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) and was one of the keenly contested ones as every artiste in that category had a good year commercially in terms of hit songs. Of course, he eventually won and deservedly so.
