Kofi Jamar, a famous award-winning Ghanaian rapper and artist has revealed his singing career came at a cost of having to leave his parent’s house since they weren’t in support of the idea.

Kofi Jamar in an interview with Happy Fm had this to say “Around that time, they wanted to go to the university to further my education. I had to leave home to hustle on my own. I am a man and I found a studio nearby where I could stay and discover how to go about my music career.”

He would also reveal how he had to take up several jobs just to have money in his pocket with which he could pay for studio sessions as well as cater for himself with “I had to switch up and do other jobs that could help me earn money to support my career. I went as far as being a security personnel to get money into my pocket and take care of myself around that time I had studio sessions”

Kofi Jamar also added his determination was such that he didn’t care coming home as he was scarcely seen in the house anyways “I was seen at home one or two times in a month and even for that, just to pick somethings up”

Kofi Jamar whose real name is Derrick Osei Kuffour Prempeh broke into the Ghanaian music space with a style so unique ‘Twi Drill’ he is credited as one of the pioneers and immediately became a household name in Kumerica (people who live in and are from Kumasi) alongside fellow talents as Yaw Tog, Asakaa boys etc. His biggest hit undoubtedly is ‘Ekorso’ which to this day remains a commercial success.
