Regardless of the lens through which one decides to look at the situation, mental health is no little thing to be trifled with. I am pained to great bits just putting together words that I hope would do a fine job of articulating my thoughts! I don’t know the full pros and cons of the situation but from the very little information we’ve been privy to, I shall keep this whole thing at arm’s length.
The whole marriage thing is an institution that needs to be looked at again with detailed eyes especially when there is a compromise of mental health and I’m been very candid here! Couples should be encouraged to call it quits when the damage becomes irreparable because at the end of the day, we’re humans and there’s only so much a person can take! Mental health is a thing not to be trifled with because we’re talking about the sanity of a Human!! You probably have an idea of how important that is but if you don’t, please revisit that line again because it is highly imperative you have this understanding! Ours is a diaspora that seemingly still has little appreciation for the importance of mental health but I’m calling on the powers that be which includes you and me to start making conscious efforts in prioritizing the state of our minds and what it is we can tolerate and what we cannot regardless whatever society tags our choices with!
Mental health is important and now, to the religion debate, a time immemorial debate! Just for your records, I am a Christian thus the idea of not being a believer should be dispelled before reading my next team of words! The Church has actually killed more people than any crime in the history of humanity! Yeah I know that is an extreme thing to say but what is more powerful than a matter of Life and Death, I’m sure Jesus Christ agrees with me but if he doesn’t, forgive my ignorance, Lord. Anything that doesn’t adapt to change is simply dead, not even in a state of comatose, simply DEAD! We and the Church in this sense have to realize times have changed and biblical quotations shouldn’t be used as a basis for avoiding necessary decisions and I’m again being candid here. The Church must encourage couples who not just have ‘certain’ difficulties in marriage because from what I hear, is a pretty much normal thing to experience once you’re married BUT then, the non-fixable differences must be voiced and subsequently be bolder with talks of divorce to come forward! That is the way to go my dear Church people, mental health is no respecter of religion.
