Sam Nartey George, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo Prampram, has urged Rev. Joseph Eastwood Anaba, the founder and president of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries, to resign from the National Cathedral of Ghana’s Board of Trustees.

He claims that Rev. Anaba has made significant contributions to the church in Ghana, particularly in the north, and that he should not be allowed to continue working on the National Cathedral project in order to protect his well-earned reputation.

Rev. Anaba and the other clergy members on the board, he continued, should resign as well as demand a probe into the corruption claims that have surrounded the project.

“My very good father, Rev Joseph Eastwood Anaba, should not allow his reputation (to be tarnished). What he has done for the north and Bolgatanga should not be eroded by individuals who have their own parochial interests and are hiding behind his good name to have all kinds of young people cast aspersions as to who he is and what he stands for.

“And these are the things that are paining and breaking the heart of myself and my brother Okudzeto. They must dissociate themselves from this. And not just dissociate themselves, they must go ahead to call for proper investigation because their reputations are at stake. There must be a proper forensic audit of individuals who have been involved,” he said.

The MP made these comments in response to the most recent corruption exposé on the National Cathedral by North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, which contained passages that suggested Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, the cathedral’s secretary to the board of trustees, had engaged in improper behavior.

The MP presented various accusations against Rev. Kusi Boateng, the National Cathedral of Ghana’s secretary to the board of trustees, on January 16, 2023.

Okudzeto Ablakwa claimed in a previous revelation concerning the National Cathedral that a whopping GH2.6 million was given to a business called JNS Talent Centre Limited.

Additional inquiries into the purported payment revealed Kwabena Adu Gyamfi to be a director of JNS Talent.

However, Kusi Boateng said that Ablakwa’s accusations against him were untrue in a statement obtained by GhanaWeb.

He added that he had not engaged in any criminal behavior in connection with the National Cathedral project and that the accusations the MP leveled against him were made for political reasons.

According to Rev. Kusi Boateng, Ablakwa has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to look into him.

He further stated that he would investigate his legal options against the MP for willfully defaming him.
