An ex-employee of GN Bank named Mr. Philip Sarpiah organized a “one-man” protest on Friday to urge President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reinstate GN Bank’s license.

He claimed that more than 6,000 former Bank employees were now unemployed as a result of the Bank’s license being revoked.

This was stated to the media by Mr. Sarpiah, a former coordinator for the Bank’s Micro Enterprise Business Department, following his protest on the streets of Accra.

Around 1000 hours, he started the demonstration from the Obra Spot in Kwame Nkrumah Circle and proceeded to Independence Square, where he handed a staff member at the Presidency his petition.

The staff member, Mr. Adu Asare, made a commitment to send the petition to the proper people at the Presidency.

GN Bank’s license was terminated in August 2019 according to Mr. Sarpiah, who claimed to have spent eight years working there.

“As I am talking to you, my child is in the house. I am not able to pay school fees. That is the reality now. GN Bank was feeding me, paying my monthly salary and other incentives, but now I am home,” he lamented.
