5Five and Appietus once upon a time were a formidable force who always gave us hits upon hits whenever they worked on a music project and atop the list would undoubtedly be Mugye Baya (Move Back) which had the all Ghana music industry on a total shutdown and not a day passed without been played via the major radio and Television platforms during its days of hay, that’s how big a song it was and 13 years down the line, the parties involved in giving us what was a hit song are in disarray over non-settlement of certain fees.

According to sound engineer extraordinaire Appietus who has a tall list of commercially-successful songs to which Mugye Baya is part, he hasn’t been paid by the group for producing the hit song and he made this known during his interview with Citi Tv. Here is what he said ‘They told me Chale, we don’t have the chorus but do it for us. We are going to show it to some big man so he can give us some money and then we will come and settle things. Also, we will see if we can find someone to feature us there. That’s what they told me. Before I knew, the song was on air, they lied to me. That song took about a week to become a big hit, they even forced me to shoot a video’

Papi of 5five who was the group’s leader at the time strongly disagreed with Appietus and according to him, it is rather the other party who owes them certain proceeds made from the music thus they’ll be taking legal action against the producer.

Regardless of the situation, we hope both parties could ceasefire and come to an understanding for the sake of the song’s beauty. This has been your errands boy with words as feet.
