Confirmed reports reaching this portal indicates, Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten has resigned from his role as Minister for Trade and Industry in the Akufo-Addo led administration.
His resignation according to reports is to allow him campaign massively towards the Flagbearer-ship position he has been dreaming of for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 elections.
This portal understands the minister tendered his resignation letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday, January 5, 2023 after a Cabinet meeting.
His resignation comes in the wake of calls for President Akufo-Addo to fire Ministers in his government eyeing to lead the NPP as flagbearer who have refused to resign.
Mr. Kyeremanten is one of the three main contenders in the race alongside Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong who is the Member of Parliament for Assin Central.
In an article written by Raymond Ablorh in December 2021, he argued that, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten “is the most appropriate personality to lead the NPP to victory and lead Ghana from where President Akufo-Addo would be exiting. He’s well groomed and prepared for the job ahead. What the NPP and Ghana need at this moment is reliable leadership.”
